Varsavia nighlife -- appunti grezzi
Inviato: 30/01/2009, 16:43
Clubs
Clubs are in no shortage in Warsaw and are a very popular way to spend nearly every night out. There are several clubs littered about on ul. Mazowiecka in Śródmieście, which are actually quite nice for the most part and where the chic head.
Student clubs are of course popular and usually moderatetly priced, but it can be a roulette picking one. Normally, the centrally located Hybrydy is a good option for night out. Other student clubs, like Stodoła or Remont, located in Śródmieście, and Park, located in Mokotów, are less predictable and quality isn't necessarily a concern for these clubs' patrons. If the sole point is to get drunk, then these are some of the better places to go for a cheap drink.
While there are quite a few clubs in Śródmieście, and more specifically the city center, there are other clubs to be found in the other districts, including Wola and Mokotów.
Hybrydy
ul. Złota 7/9,
www.hybrydy.com.pl, fax:
A decent student club in the center of Warsaw that's usually a reliable place for a good night out. Entrance fees vary. Typically, if you have a student ID, you'll get 50% off the entry fee.
Underground
ul. Marszalkowska 126/134
http://www.under.pl
Since its opening in 1998, Underground Music Klub has made a point to make music its focus, while providing a hip and relaxed atmosphere where you can enjoy yourself without worrying about keeping up appearances. In addition to live music concerts on a regular basis, Underground has a crew of its own resident DJs who keep the large dance floor moving to electronic beats, while some comfortable couches provide a space to rest your feet.
--
Simply put – do not go to this club. It's really much more trouble than it's worth. Underground is, despite being a very popular club, quite frankly a terrible club. The managers seem to have sacrificed quality over profit. Just a few of the problems – overcrowded, if you came here to dance, you'll actually spend more time apologizing for bumping into people than dancing; long lines to get in on the weekend and if you need to check a coat, this could take up to 30 minutes, because of the lines; also, the bouncers are the laziest people on Earth and will not intervene in fights outside their clubs, even if their customers are being attacked. If you are considering going, it'd be better to just skip Underground and go somewhere else. 10 PLN entry.
Utopia
ul. Jasna 1
http://www.utopia.waw.pl/
One of the hottest addresses in town for boys that don't like breasts, Utopia, like many successful gay clubs, has become a mecca for party-goers of every disposition. Classy decor, great DJs, up-for-it crowd and a VIP room with all the champagne and sushi a man needs, Utopia indeed lives up to its name. Needless to say gaining admittance to this 'Heaven on Earth' is no easy feat, and the club's doormen are known as some of the most picky in town. These discerning St. Peters have even been known to turn away the odd celeb, so be warned - only your dandiest shirt will do.
Organza
ul. Sienkiewicza 4
Organza is one of your best bets if you're looking for a classic clubbing night, Polski style. It's something of a favourite with young Varsovians, doubling as a laidback meeting place and lunch venue during the day and a full-on nightclub once dusk has fallen. On Wednesdays and Thursdays DJs spin chillout grooves, whilst on Fridays the cream of Poland's DJs step up with a mix of old school, electro, 80's, French house and pretty much anything else that cuts the mustard. Film nights are also planned, as are exhibitions, so watch this space! One tip: the natives tend to dress up so you may be turned away if you're wearing tatty trainers and a tracksuit.
--
is well done club. The dance floor on the ground floor with tables on the floor below and above for clubbers to take a break from the dancing. The bouncers seem to do a decent job of making sure no one gets in too drunk which makes the party a more enjoyable for everyone. To get in, you'll need to be decently dressed, since some of Warsaw's more attractive clubbing females tend to frequent Organza and sister clubs - Sheesha and Bollywood. Speaking Spanish to the bouncer may help you get in too.
Lemon Klub
ul. Sienkiewicza 6
It's been said this place was created to help all those poor lost souls who couldn't find good music and great atmospheres anywhere around town - one step inside and anyone would have to agree they've done quite a job of keeping to their word. Top DJs entertain with a variety of music accented by on-going visualizations, keeping the floor lively all night long. Choose from a wide array of drink specials or pop up to Lemon Cafe for a quick bit to eat if you feel the munchies starting (click over to find more about this club's big brother, Lemon Cafe). A huge locale which can fit up to 300, it still has limited seating so make sure to make a reservation.
Club Hotl
Krakowskie Przedmiescie 13
http://www.clubhotl.pl
Located in the luxurious location of the now-closed Hotel Europejski, the Club Hotl boasts quality staff and a secure and comfortable locale. Its exclusiveness comes at a price though, so don't expect cheap drinks here - nonetheless some of the cocktails really are worth paying extra for, and the barmen know their stuff. The resident DJs spin the best in drum n'bass, techno, and funk, while special themed musical parties keep things from getting cold at Club Hotl.
Platinium
ul. Fredry 6
Platinum Club is a unique place where the bold and the beautiful mingle and those who love to party can stay all night. Located in a historic tenement house, the club's original architecture is enhanced by its modern and stylish decor. The club itself has nearly 1000 m2 of floorspace, including a raised dancefloor, three separated rooms, two bars, and a VIP room that can be reserved for a group. The music varies from room to room, but you can expect some electro beats getting people on the dancefloor at the weekends. At Platinum, you'll feel like you're in a club in Paris, London, or New York.
Paprotka
pl. Pilsudskiego 9
Where can you find feather boa columns, chill music and Mercedes logo-shaped seats? Why at Paprotka, of course! Located in the center of town and relatively unassuming from the outside, this gem of a bar has a few tricks up its sleeve. Walk in and get a mixed vibe: part 50's decor, part modern finishings, part Buddhist tones (at least from the tubular lamps). Music is normally chilllout-oriented, but the occassional dance beat also makes an appearance; good thing there's a decent sized dance floor at hand. The menu features a wide array of cocktails and surprisingly good food (this writer recommends the beef ciabatta sandwich) - but beware: it's written entirely in Polish. No worries: the helpful staff will do their part to translate all those consonant-laden words for you. A solid pick in central Warsaw.
Opium
ul. Wierzbowa 9/11
www.opiumclub.pl
The two level Opium Club is a place decked out in a very original Oriental style. The smaller downstairs hall is adorned in sexy reds and designs straight from the Far East, including some hints for later in the night from the Kama Sutra on the walls. The upstairs level throbs to techno and house, where the girls are as pretty as peach, the chaps are slick and sprightly, and there's the stunning Eastern decor to match. At the weekends you can savour the After City afterparty, which starts as the sun is rising.
--
(Pl. Teatralny, near Metro station Ratusz Arsenał),
Opium scores extra points for having a decent interior design, which really adds to the atmosphere. The music is so-so. Somewhat weirdly, the place seemed to be empty during peak clubbing hours.
JasnaBar
ul. Jasna 24
http://www.jasnabar.pl/
The 'JasnaBar' has brought a breath of fresh air to the Warsaw scene. Drop by for a tasty bowl of spaghetti during the day and you may also find a exhibition being staged by young Polish artists. At night, prepare for some mash-it-up action on the decks. Dj's with the golden touch will be keeping things phat and funky, and there's a plethora of exotic drinks to sample. Well worth investigating.
Paparazzi
ul. Mazowiecka 12
Paparazzi has a slick, metropolitan style that seems tailor-made for Warsaw. Famous for their cocktails and themed parties, this is the kind of place that chaps will splash on a dash of after shave for. Smooth and chic furnishings set the tone, and it's certainly as good a joint as any to practise your Humphrey Bogart moves. Thus the stage is set nicely for you to order your Grasshopper and see if you have Bogie's magic touch. If things don't go quite as swimmingly as planned you can always retire to one of their comfy booths and order yourself a rather tasty dinner for one. Paparazzi does an enticing range of light bites from salads to pastas, making this a fine day time stop too.
Enklawa
ul. Mazowiecka 12
http://www.enklawa.com/
Art and Music Klub Enklawa is a recent arrival on the Warsaw club scene, and was created to fill a gap in the club market. Enklawa's music selection is as dynamic as the taste of the club's patrons, but their goal in the end is to make sure you have a good time there, whether it's seeing a live band or getting down on their enormous dance floor. The architecturally interesting interior, and the equally interesting patrons, all add to the unique atmosphere of Enklawa.
Zoo
ul. Mazowiecka 13 (discretamente vicino a noi)
If you're keen to investigate Warsaw's bright young things in their native habitat then the Zoo is one to put on your list. Convince the doorman of your cool cat pedigree, and step inside this hedonistic hideaway. Djs and bands of the moment will be whipping things up, whilst vivacious young Varsovians will be holding court on the zebra skinned sofas. Heading into the second room you'll find that beds and even a bath are on hand if you really want to chill out hippo style. Nice.
Balsam

The Mexican, Harenda, Punkt, Enklawa, On-Off...
Foksal appunto, ultimamente(Febbraio 2006) è molto valido.
6. Sabato: stessa situazione del Venerdì.
-Lemon: attaccato all' Organza.. discorso simile.. selection + rigorosa..!!
